Tonya's Portfolio

My mission is to create technology that is truly useful, usable and a joy to use. Through user experience research and design, I strive to better understand and address the close relationships that develop between people and the technologies they use in their living and learning spaces. Currently, I'm working on projects that involve ambient computing environments, with a focus on UX and ethical issues in these environments. Some examples are:
  • Emergent properties of pervasive digital personal spaces and how these properties influence user experience

  • Ethical design of home-based intelligent technologies for senior citizens

  • An impact evaluation toolkit for UX designs "in the wild"
I've recently been exploring ideas related to Emotional Usability, Ten Emotion Heuristics in particular. I'm interested in how emotional usability influences online dating site searches and online dating experiences. I also have an interest in developing realistic models of human behavior.
